Meet Natasha Kruitwagen
Natasha is originally from Oakville, Ontario but moved to Halifax in 2011 to attend Dalhousie University. She fell in love with the landscape and people in Nova Scotia and knew that she wanted to make it her home.
Natasha earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature with a Minor in Biology from Dalhousie University. She graduated in 2016 and went on to attend Law School at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. During her time in law school, Natasha did pro-bono work with East Coast Environmental Law and spent her summers working in different boutique law firms and non-profits. In her last year of law school, Natasha spent a semester working at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service, where she gained experience acting as a lawyer on family law and youth criminal files. Natasha credits DLAS for giving her a taste for litigation and working with clients to understand their individual needs and circumstances. Natasha graduated from Law School in 2019 with certificates in Environmental Law and Marine Law along with her Juris Doctor.
Natasha completed her articles in downtown Toronto at a trial focused litigation boutique where she practiced mostly the defense side of personal injury law. Natasha gained an understanding for the insurance company perspective during her articling year, but she missed building relationships with clients and working on diverse files. She was thrilled to return to Nova Scotia after being admitted to the Law Society of Ontario in 2020.
Natasha is excited to join McKiggan Hebert Lawyers and learn from the best. She is proud to be part of a firm that was named one of the Top 10 personal Injury Law Firms in Canada by Canadian Lawyer Magazine.
Natasha is called to the Bar in both Ontario and Nova Scotia and belongs to the Law Society of Ontario and the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society. She approaches her work with empathy, compassion, and dedication and she strives to get the best outcome for each individual client.
In her spare time, Natasha is an avid reader and loves to experiment in the kitchen. She is currently trying to perfect her oatmeal bread recipe. On the weekends you can often find Natasha at a Pilates class or exploring Nova Scotia’s trails and beaches with her dog and partner.
